Glo Forward: Lita Cunningham
Meet Lita Cunningham, the powerhouse founder of LALAIS, who’s rewriting the rules of skincare — and self-care — with a refreshingly honest approach. As someone who refuses to settle for average, Lita has built a brand that champions balance, confidence, and glowing skin that speaks for itself. In this Glo Forward edition, she opens up about her journey, daily rituals, and the little luxuries that keep her feeling her best.

1. What is one thing you love about yourself?
I’m allergic to mediocrity. I just don’t believe in average or things done half *ss. There are limitations we all face, but there’s no one who’s going to work harder or out hustle me.
2. What does self-care look like to you on a free day?
As a small business owner, there really are no free days. It’s difficult to remember a time when I could rest without my mind racing. So, the most treasured self-care for me now is sleep. A day when I can sleep in and not have to make any hard decisions or have any sort of schedule, to give my brain and soul a rest, is an absolute treat. Throw in a hair mask and a fresh mani and pedi, and I can conquer the world!
3. What is your favorite mantra?
"From Chaos Comes Beauty."
Real change, real progress, things that change the game, come from situations that are disruptive, uncomfortable, or unknown. So, I try to remember that when things aren’t going right, or feel like a setback, you’re actually on the edge of something that’s going to be great. It’s the tagline of my brand, LALAIS, because it represents oily skin having so many things going on at once, but it’s actually is a good mantra for life in general.
4. What’s one daily ritual you never skip?
I talk to my mom every night before she goes to bed. She’s really excited about the business, and likes to keep up with what’s going on. She might tell me about beauty articles she saw online, the latest display in a store at the mall, or just offer simple words of support and encouragement. We started the ritual during COVID and just never stopped. Even when I’m out, I send a quick text to connect. I also make a specific coffee in the morning with anti-inflammatory oils and a very spicy green juice every night.
5. How do you unwind after a long day?
Taking 2 capsules of The Skin Perfecting Complex with our custom-blended tea...hot or cold, depending on the time of year. It has l-theanine, which helps to moderate cortisol levels along with ginger for digestion, zinc for breakouts, MSM for healing and cell renewal, and potent antioxidants. They are the 1st skin-balancing supplements that support whole body health. The tea tastes like a spa, so I sip that while I take a shower and go through my 5-minute skincare routine since the LALAIS serums are multi-taskers that act as 4 serums in 1. I then go through my prayer list and give thanks for all of my blessings and tumble into bed. I have no problems falling asleep, so as soon as I’m laying down, I’m out.

6. Do you pack for a trip in advance or save it for a last-minute scramble?
Both. I don’t know what it is about packing, but I can have the suitcase out for days and put things in ahead of time, but it’s always a mad dash to close the zipper and get out the door.
7. What’s your go-to wellness practice when you’re feeling stressed or
overwhelmed?
Lists. I have to see things and lay out all the things I need to do. A mentor once told me:
“It’s hard to solve big problems, but you’re great at solving small problems. So, break down the problem into smaller pieces and you can tackle them to get the problem untangled.”
It’s strange, but I get so much satisfaction crossing things off my lists. And true confessions, sometimes I do something and put it on the list just to be able to cross it off.
And, a walk outside. I live in NYC, so when it gets stressful, I head outside to take a walk. The vibrancy and pace of the city are a reminder that things can rapidly change, so stay the course and keep going.
8. What role does fitness play in your self-care routine?
With the demands of launching a brand, there haven’t been enough hours in the day and
exercise got cut. I’m determined to change that. I desperately miss pilates, so I’m committed to getting back into it again. I’m not yet in the place to go out to a class, but I’m doing the 15-20 min workouts on apps every few hours. It’s a way to dip my toe in the water and in the next week or two, I’ll be back to class without the guilt of leaving the business.
9. Do you have a favorite skincare or body care product you can’t live without?
LALAIS has changed my skin and the way so many others feel about their skin too. To have balanced, even, radiant skin that doesn’t require foundation is what we all want, and LALAIS delivers. Our face tells a story without saying a word, it’s your personal business card. Like it or not, people size us up by how we look. So, your complexion matters. And, it’s so easy to use...just cleanse, apply 1 pump, and follow with moisturizer. I alternate The Perfecting Serum and The Retinol Renewal every other night. The serums do all the work, while you get 20 minutes of your evening back. What could be better?
10. What’s one piece of advice you would give to your younger self?
Run your race...in your own time, on your own path, and in your own way. You’re doing fine, and everything doesn’t have to be figured out.

From making lists to morning coffee rituals, Lita shows us that self-care doesn’t have to be complicated — it’s about finding your rhythm and sticking with it. We love how she’s weaving her personal philosophy of “From Chaos Comes Beauty” into LALAIS, a brand that’s all about balance and glow.
